Currently the Des Moines metropolitan area is the only location where refugees are being resettled by the Bureau. In order to provide a smooth resettlement, the Bureau provides two main categories of services to refugees: core resettlement services and social services.
The cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State outlines the core services Voluntary Resettlement Agencies are responsible for providing to refugees.
Social service funding by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement is utilized to meet the social service needs of refugees who have been in the United States less than 60 months.
