Annual Provider Training 2015

The Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) values the Annual Provider Training as a critical tool to establish and maintain partnerships between the IME and its provider community. Last year’s training sessions drew participation from 3,554 providers. On February 16, 2015, Governor Terry Branstad announced efforts to “modernize” the Iowa Medicaid Program through the Iowa High Quality Health Care Initiative. This Initiative aims to improve access and care coordination, promote accountability and outcomes, and provide a predictable and sustainable Medicaid budget. A key component of this Initiative is the selection of two to four managed care organizations to provide high quality health care services to the majority of Medicaid members beginning January 1, 2016. The IME recognizes that provider education is critical in successfully implementing this initiative. As part of the effort to educate the network of Medicaid providers, this year’s annual provider training will focus on providing information regarding the changes resulting from this Medicaid “modernization” effort as mandated by the Iowa High Quality Health Care Initiative. This year’s annual provider training will include provider education sessions that focus specifically on these upcoming changes.

These provider education sessions will be offered in eleven different communities throughout the state in September and will focus primarily on discussions regarding the Medicaid “modernization” effort but will also include discussions regarding the October 1, 2015 transition to ICD-10.

Submit questions in advance:
Providers are encouraged to submit their Medicaid Modernization and ICD-10 questions ahead of the training sessions. The questions submitted will help us make the training as valuable and informative as possible. Space has been made available on the online Training Registration form for the questions you might wish to submit.

Information about registering for the training sessions:
The IME will use an online Training Registration form to prevent overbooking of the training sessions and to simplify the sign-in process at each venue. There will be two training sessions each day in each designated community covering the same topics (one in the morning and one is the afternoon). Trainings will be held in eleven designated communities throughout the state. View the schedule and locations of the training sessions.

  • If you are unable to complete and submit the registration form for any reason please contact the Provider Services Unit at 1-800-338-7909 and a representative will complete a form on your behalf.

  • Please plan on attending your selected session at the designated date and time. You will only be contacted by the IME if we are unable to accommodate your request.  If you are unable to register because a session is fully booked, please review the schedule of the site sessions for a different location near your community.

  • Actual session end times will be dependent on the need of each particular session. The time frames provided are an estimate and we ask that you plan accordingly. There is no cost to attend these sessions.
