IA Health Link

Welcome to IA Health Link, Iowa’s Medicaid managed care program.

IA Health Link brings together physical, behavioral and long-term care under one program across Iowa which is covered by a managed care organization (MCO) that you get to choose. Most existing Medicaid members were enrolled in IA Health Link on April 1, 2016, and most new Iowa Medicaid members who become eligible after April 1, 2016, will also be enrolled in IA Health Link. Our Frequently Asked Questions webpage for the IA Health Link program is regularly updated to offer the latest information to help members get the care they need, and help providers get paid for the important services they deliver.

Some Medicaid members, however, will continue to receive Medicaid coverage through a Medicaid Fee-for-Service program and will not transition to the IA Health Link program. The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) services will continue to be offered through the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa program, also known as hawk-i.  Simply put, Iowa Medicaid has three main coverage groups:

  1. IA Health Link
  2. Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS)
  3. hawk-i

We encourage you to read more about the IA Health Link program on these web pages to get a better understanding of the many benefits and services offered by Iowa Medicaid. We also invite you to learn more about Medicaid coverage outside of the IA Health Link program by visiting the web pages of the Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) programs, and the hawk-i program. Other valuable information resources such as the IA Health Link Frequently Asked Questions, the member Resources web page, the IA Health Link Managed Care Program Handbook, and the Medicaid Guide to Fee-for-Service (FFS) were produced to help give you a better understanding of the many services offered by Iowa Medicaid.  Please visit this website often as we continue to add new information about IA Health Link. If you are an Iowa Medicaid provider, please contact your MCO. MCO provider contact information.
