Training Sessions for Medicaid Providers


The Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) holds a variety of training sessions every year. This section of the website outlines these training sessions and provides relevant information such as requirements for participation, schedules, locations, dates and times, and more. 2016 Critical Incident Reporting (CIR) Process Collaborative Training

This web-based training session will provide information regarding Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 77 major incident reporting requirements involving enrolled members of HCBS Waiver, Habilitation Services, and Money Follows the Person (MFP) programs. This training will also provide information on where to access the updated form, how to fill out it, and how to submit the form for non-MCO or the Fee-for-Service (FFS) members. HCBS waiver service providers, case managers, targeted case managers, service workers, transitional specialist, pediatric integrated health home (PIHH) care coordinators, and integrated health home (IHH) care coordinators are required to submit an incident report to the Bureau of Long Term Care, via the Iowa Medicaid Portal Access (IMPA) system, when a major incident has been witnessed or discovered for members who are non-MCO or FFS. You will be required to register to view this training video.

Annual Provider Training 2016

The IME holds an annual training event specifically designed for all Medicaid providers. This annual training event offers providers an opportunity to become better acquainted with Iowa Medicaid programs and initiatives. It also offers an opportunity for the IME Provider Outreach Unit to engage providers in face-to-face contact and Q&A sessions. 2016 Medicaid Modernization Update Training for Providers - Webinar Videos
The IME Provider Outreach team conducted live provider education sessions in 11 different communities throughout the state on the Iowa Medicaid Modernization transition. Due to record attendance some providers may not have been able to register and in an effort to reach all providers the presentation has been recorded and is available below.

2016 Medicaid Modernization Update Training for Providers

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued its decision on the implementation of the IA Health Link managed care program. The program will now begin on March 1, 2016, instead of January 1, 2016. The IME recognizes that provider education is critical in successfully implementing this initiative. In-person provider education sessions on the ongoing program development and transition will be offered in 11 different communities throughout the state. HCBS Quality Improvement Plan Training:
HCBS waiver service providers, case managers, care coordinators, targeted case managers and service workers benefit from an overview regarding the purpose, development, and implementation of a quality improvement process. Topics for this web-based training session include a definition of quality improvement; the purpose of developing a plan; how to improve the process; and an example of the discovery, remediation, and improvement process.

Consumer Choices Option (CCO) Trainings: 

HCBS Quality Oversight conducted a web-based training sessions regarding the HCBS Waiver self-direction program, the Consumer Choices Option (CCO). The webinars covered a general overview of CCO including the philosophy of self-direction, eligibility, allowable service types, responsibilities of those involved, budgeting and savings plans, as well as training sessions for individuals interested in becoming Independent Support Brokers (ISB) through the CCO program of the Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME). Individuals completing the ISB trainings must have internet and email access, be able to complete all training requirements, and pass a background check in order to participate in the ISB Training.

Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) 101 Training  
This webinar provides a broad overview of Iowa’s seven waivers and habilitation services. Topics include waiver and habilitation eligibility, HCBS programs, and services available under each waiver and habilitation. The training is intended for HCBS providers, targeted case managers, case managers, service workers, and integrated health home care coordinators. These training sessions are for individuals interested in becoming Independent Support Brokers (ISB) through IMEs Consumer Choices Option (CCO) program.
