Medicaid and Hawki COVID-19 Eligibility Update [1]

The Department of Human Services (DHS) has resumed some of the Medicaid eligibility processes for many members currently enrolled in Medicaid and Hawki. DHS is using a phased approach over the next several months to resume to normal operations. Yes. The COVID-19 vaccine, any version, is a covered Medicaid benefit.

Is a prior authorization needed for the COVID-19 vaccine?

No. You do not need to get a prior authorization for your vaccine.

Do I have to pay for the COVID-19 vaccine?

No. Both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be at no cost to you. Just make sure you schedule an appointment to receive both doses within the designated amount of time apart.

What if I don't go to an in-network provider to get my vaccine, will I have to pay?

Both Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) are covering the cost of the vaccine for their members no matter where they go to receive the vaccine.

How do stimulus payments affect Medicaid recipients?

The COVID-19 stimulus payments to individuals and families is not countable income for Medicaid applicants and recipients. Stimulus payments not spent in the month it is received are excluded as a resource for 12 months.
