Mental Health Institutes

Iowa has two Mental Health Institutes (MHI) located in Cherokee [1] and Independence [2].  Mental Health Institutes provide short term psychiatric treatment and care for severe symptoms of mental illness. The additional services at each MHI vary; details are available on the individual MHI pages.
