Quality Rating System Overview

The Quality Rating System (QRS) is a voluntary program that provides a rating of between one and five stars for providers who go the extra mile to offer exceptional care.

The QRS was created to raise the quality of child care in Iowa, to increase the number of children in high-quality child care settings, and to educate parents about quality in child care.

Currently the QRS Oversight Team is in the process of redesigning Iowa's QRS and is soliciting feedback from stakeholders regarding the proposed changes. Below are links to three (3) surveys designed to capture feedback on the new system. Additionally, there are two (2) companion documents that outline all of the new system categories and requirements and provide responses to frequently asked questions.
