Measure Description:

  • The ED Visit Count is the number of emergency department visits with a primary diagnosis code for COPD.
  • The Crude Rate (Per 10K) 25 and Older is the rate of emergency department visits with a primary diagnosis code for COPD among persons 25 and older per 10,000 Population 25 and Older.
  • The Age Adj Rate (Per 10K) 25 and Older is the age adjusted rate of emergency department visits with a primary diagnosis code for COPD among persons 25 and older per 10,000 Population 25 and Older. Age adjustment to the 2000 Standard US Census is done to allow direct comparison of rates in counties and state with different population age distributions.
  • The Average Daily ED Visits is the number of ED visits with a primary diagnosis of COPD in a given month divided by the number of days in the month.
